On August 18, the donation ceremony for the Hope Weiqi Classroom and public‑service instructional‑game event was held at Yunding Grand Hotel, Chongli, as part of the 2026 "Citic Cup" China Women's Weiqi League · Hebei Yunding Venue. The opening match of this venue followed shortly afterwards. Top‑ranked teams including Shanghai Xingxiaomu, Chengdu Ronghe and Hangzhou Yunlin Juepo all claimed victories, retaining their leading positions in the rankings.

Since its launch at the Luoyang Station in 2016, the Hope Weiqi Classroom under the China Women's Weiqi League has built 67 classrooms across the country. By donating Weiqi boards, stone pieces, Weiqi‑related books, learning software, computers, Weiqi robots and other supplies, the program facilitates the popularization and promotion of Weiqi nationwide and carries forward fine traditional Chinese culture. This public‑welfare initiative has become a signature feature of the China Women's Weiqi League. Today, the public‑welfare event arrives at Yunding in Chongli, a well‑known Winter Olympic resort, allowing the flower of Weiqi to bloom in this Winter Olympic city.

    Following the donation ceremony for the Hope Weiqi Classroom, chess players including Wang Runan, Chairman Chang Zhenming, 9‑dan Cao Dayuan, 7‑dan Liu Shizhen, 7‑dan Kong Lingwen, 5‑dan Chen Yiming, 4‑dan Zhang Zihan, 4‑dan Ye Zimeng and 3‑dan Jia Ganglu gave instructional games to 74 local weiqi enthusiasts. The number 74 was chosen in commemoration of the 74th birthday of grandmaster Nie Weiping.

The opening match of the Hebei Yunding Venue of the current China Women's Weiqi League, namely the 10th round of the whole season, took place on the same day. The top‑ranked three teams, Shanghai Xingxiaomu, Chengdu Ronghe and Hangzhou Yunlin Juepo, all secured victories and remained in the top‑three positions. Eight‑time league champion Jiangsu Guoyuan V3 lost 1‑2 to Shanghai Xingxiaomu despite the win by its top player Yu Zhiying, 8‑dan. Suffering its third consecutive defeat, the team dropped to fifth place in the rankings.
